    Description

It would be really nice if there was an option (perhaps an 'advanced' or 'performance / backports' update stream) that provided more modern Kernels for XenServer.

There are some really big performance increases in 3.16 and 3.18 especially in the storage and networking stacks that would greatly benefit XenServer clients.

At Infoxchange, we actually run CI builds of our (non-XenServer) kernels - we fetch the latest stable kernel from kernel.org, verify it's checksum apply our patches / config options then build a package and let it install on a test server.

      By doing this:

      • We often beat mainstream distributions with security fixes
      • We get the most performance out of our hardware (especially important for us as we're a non-profit)
      • Updates are so trivial and easy that they're almost boring - we don't get hit with a big wall of dangerous changes that can't be isolated.

While I don't suggest users do this with XenServer host kernels - It would be advantageous to have some sort of publicly visible rolling CI of kernels for XenServer.
