      XenCenter 6.6.90.2887 (64-bit) from Dundee Build 108055c

    Description

      SCOPE
To test XenCenters "Allow XenCenter to delete the update installation file" feature using:

      XenServer 6.5 (vanilla)
      XenCenter 6.6.90.2887 (64-bit) from Dundee Build 108055c
Install applicable Hotfixes for XenServer 6.5 SP1 to most current Hotfix
Enable "Allow XenCenter to delete the update installation file" feature

      USE CASE
To test the patch clean-up feature from the last Dundee Drop (30-OCT-25)
To ensure the option is consistent versus last test, ie "Do not expect it to delete previously installed updates"

      TESTING

      • Installed XenServer 6.5 (vanilla)
      • Installed XenCenter 6.6.90.2887 (64-bit) from Dundee Build 108055c
      • Using the update feature, selected SP1
      • Following the dialog, selected/enabled "Allow XenCenter to delete the update installation file"
      • After install of SP1 and reboot, validated that var/patch/ had indeed cleared the SP1
      • Continued installing patches and randomly rebooted after 1-3 patch applications

      RESULT
Found that patch files still existed in /var/patch/

      CONTROLLED TEST
Using XenCenter 6.6.90.2887 (64-bit) from Dundee Build 108055c
Installed XS62ESP1033 by itself with the "Allow XenCenter to delete the update installation file" enabled
Allowed XenCenter to reboot my XenServer after applying patch
I did find that when installing XS62ESP1033, the patch WAS removed

      SUSPICION AND OR IDEA

      • When installing multiple updates without rebooting, patch files can be left over?
