    Description

Over many different versions of XenServer and Exchange, on old and new builds, it takes 10-15 minutes for the Windows networking to come up after a reboot of a VM running Microsoft Exchange. This affects (at least) Exchange 2010-2016, on Windows Server 2008-2012, running on XenServer 6.2 through 7.0.

      The symptoms are:

      • ! mark on the networking icon on the logon screen
      • Missing network icon in the system tray
      • Unable to open most Windows consoles (Network and Sharing Center, Services, Device Manager, etc)
      • Group Policy processing errors due to inability to connect to domain controllers
      • Around 10-15 minutes after boot, the networking suddenly turns on, and any consoles you attempted to open start popping up

In addition, this issue seems to be related to issues upgrading the XenTools/Management Agent install. The install wizard appears to hang, but if you let it sit after the first reboot (sometimes up to an hour or more), it will suddenly finish. This has prompted many (including myself) to get worried and restore from snapshot, only to have it happen again.
