XenServer 7.1 LTSR CU2 - XenServer says it's using XenTools 7.4, so from CR.
Description
When I update XenTools inside VMs (primarily Windows Server 2008 R2) Setup runs through and disappears.
XenServer Agent seems to be still running, but reboot signal from XenCenter doesn't affect the VM. A manual restart of the service then triggers the VM to reboot. After reboot and logon, XenTools setup pops up a message, that a XenDriver needs a reboot (IIRC Block device), so you reboot VM again.
I guess you see the discrepancies yourself: Not restarting XenServer Agent itself, needing 2 reboots... and several (manual) hands-ons.
I'm adding it here, because I saw that 7.1 CU2 uses 7.4 drivers and I doubt anyone fixed it until 7.6 - otherwise it would have been fixed for LTSR, too (hopefully).
It costs a lot of time to work down many VMs with so many manual interactions.
