VM Console/Remote Control Stuck at Low Resolution

Previously, I could run a couple commands via console to be able to increase the resolution of my VM console to higher than 1024x768.  I tried the same commands on the VM newly-created in 8.1, and it does not work anymore.  Below were the commands I used.  Are there other drivers that can be installed?  I can RDP to the device and change resolution in the remote desktop connection, but I cannot using VNC remote control

• Taking the UUID value, run the following two commands:
  • xe vm-param-set uuid=<UUID> platform:vga=std
  • xe vm-param-set uuid=<UUID> platform:videoram=16
